How Renting Furniture is “Green”

2016, like the recent years leading up to it, is about going green in more ways than ever before. We all know the drill: don’t waste water, use energy-efficient lightbulbs, and recycle what you

can. Since we at Buddy’s Home Furnishings care about our environmental impact, we’re continuously looking for ways to lessen our ecological impact. Did you know furnishing your home could be green? It’s true! Renting furniture is an eco-friendly alternative to buying furniture for multiple reasons.

The biggest eco issue with furniture lies in what happens when you’re done with it. If you buy a sofa, use it for two years, and decide you no longer want it, what do you do with it? Many times, it ends up at the curb where it’ll be hauled away to the landfill. That means the materials and energy that were used to produce that couch have been wasted.

When you rent a sofa, you take away that waste. You’ve heard the saying “Reduce, reuse, recycle.” Well, that’s exactly what you’re doing with rent to own furniture. You can keep the sofa as long as you like, but if the day comes where you don’t want it anymore, you can easily return it to Buddy’s Home Furnishings. We’ll take it, clean it up, repair and refurbish it, then let someone else rent it like new.

By renting from Buddy’s, you’re lessening the manufacturing needs and materials used to produce furniture. While your individual impact may be relatively small, when put it together with all of our other customers, that small impact turns into a really, really big one.

At Buddy’s Home Furnishings, we’re immensely proud to offer high quality, affordable rent to own furniture, appliance, and electronics. We’re even more proud knowing that, with the help of our customers, we can do what we do and help the environment at the same time.
