Create a Seamless Color Palette for Your Room

When you put a room together, you want it to have a cohesive feeling throughout. It should represent your personality and facilitate the purpose of the room. Whether it’s a living room, bedroom, bathroom, or beyond, creating a great looking room starts with picking a

color scheme. Mixing textures and different types of knick-knacks can be fun and if you’re adventurous, you can get pretty creative with it. With colors, though, it’s not as haphazard as you might think.

If you’ve ever walked into a room and felt something was off but couldn’t put your finger on it, chances are it was the color. Whether you like spaces that are daring and bright, subdued and modern, or light and airy, carefully picking the colors that

you’ll use throughout the space can give it a very polished, comfortable feel.

One way to start a color scheme is to pick the dominant color in your room now. Say, for instance, you have this rent to own Ashley Furniture sofa and loveseat set. The bright spice red makes a bold and colorful statement. That’s a perfect starting point.

From there you’ve got a couple options. Take a look at a color wheel. For a more casual and relaxing room, pick colors the right and left of your statement color. Use these colors as accents. If it feels like too much. Take one of the colors away and add in a neutral like white or beige. If you don’t like the look of the colors next to your dominant color on the wheel, go with a complimentary color, which is the color that is opposite your dominant one on the color wheel.

Once you have your three or four colors picked out, try to use the 60-30-10 rule. Your room should be 60% your dominant color, 30% your secondary color, and 10% your accent color(s).
