Once cold weather starts making less of an appearance, most people get this rush of motivation to simplify the clutter in their home and do some spring cleaning. For some, one of the main reasons to de-clutter and freshen up the place would be if they are looking to rent or purchase new furniture! It’s so exciting to prepare the space in your living room to make room for a giant new entertainment center or a new coffee table and end tables.
The first thing that needs to take place is getting rid of the “eyesores” in your space. Papers, toys or items that don’t get much use but spend a lot of time on the floor, and old home decor that isn’t doing much for your home anymore should be packed away in the attic or preferably donated to a local charity or thrift store. This is especially true for those looking to put their house on the market. Simple is best – eliminate the excess and leave room to see the space in the most natural way possible. Wouldn’t you love to walk into your home and see a nice, clean kitchen table and chairs with no stacks of papers, coupons and folders all over it?
Getting a few NEW pieces other than furniture can also motivate spring cleaning. Try a few new throw pillows for your sofa or a throw blanket for a comfy chair. For outside of the home? Nice patio chairs and some colorful, potted plants will make backyard entertaining (or showing to sell) much easier. With nicer weather, spending time outside is much more appealing to guests and buyers, not to mention yourself! These are just a few ideas to get your creative mind in gear for getting your home ready for warmer, nicer weather. It will make you happy!
