If you have recently downsized or live in a home that only accommodates a small family of 3 or 4, hosting family and friends for Spring Break or summer vacation may be a bit of a challenge. Let’s say you live in a 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom home and all of the rooms are occupied by young children and yourself. You would hate to put your young child in another room that may throw their ever-so-delicate bedtime and sleep routine off! You could consider renting an extra sofa or sectional sofa. Many sectional sofas are very comfortable to sleep on. Or perhaps you can consider a queen size bed or bunk beds to replace a smaller full bed in one of the bedrooms! Any of these options will create a lot of extra sleeping space.
If your family and/or friends are the laid back type, maybe they would even be okay with setting the extra bed up in the living room or study. This way, all young occupants of your current living situation are unfazed and happy! It could also make for a fun sleepover ambiance for all the younger members of your group.
One other functional idea is if you own a twin bed, consider a second twin size mattress to slide under the twin bed to create a trundle bed. This sleeps an extra person with easy storage. This would also serve as a nice sleeping arrangement for a child’s sleepover! Bottom line, don’t let arriving house guests put a damper on your own family’s comfort. Just do some planning and make the proper accommodations. Once you have the sleeping arrangements covered, the rest of the planning is fun!
