Measuring Your Space for New Furniture

Getting the wrong-sized furniture is an easy mistake to make. You may have looked at the piece in the store and thought it rent to own furniturelooked right for your living room, dining room, or bedroom. But when the delivery van arrives, the room swallows up the furniture or vice versa. Instead of dealing with a purchase that isn’t right for your home, do some measuring:

Step 1: Grab a notepad, pencil, and measuring tape.

Step 2: Measure the area of the space where the furniture will ultimately rest, and measure any doorways, stairways, and hallways through which the furniture will need to pass to rest comfortably in its space.

Step 3: Measure your current furniture, if applicable. If you have a preexisting sofa, bed, or other furniture item you don’t like because it’s too big or too small, measure it. You’ll know exactly what you don’t want when you get to the store.

Step 4: Go shopping! And don’t forget your tape measurer and notepad. Measure the furniture before you decide to bring it home. Having the measurements of the space readily available will help you visualize the piece of furniture in the room.

At Buddy’s Home Furnishings, you can pop into one of our stores or go online to find the perfect furniture addition that fits well in your home. Goldilocks would be proud!
