Buddy’s Home Furnishings Press ReleaseBuddy’s Home Furnishings recently partnered with the Darrell Armstrong Foundation for Premature Babies, Inc. (DAFPB) to provide 175 Thanksgiving dinners to at need families in the Orlando community.  Each planned dinner was intended to feed a family of four and included a 20+ pound turkey, plentiful sides, and a pie. 2016 marked the 17th year the foundation provided turkey dinners to the community and the first year the foundation partnered with Buddy’s Home Furnishings.

“Everyone needs a helping hand from time to time,” said Michael Bennett, COO Buddy’s Home Furnishings. “This is our way of sharing kindness with people in our community with no expectation for something in return.”

Thanksgiving meals and all of the fixings were given out to families at the Boys & Girls Club – Eatonville, Callahan Neighborhood Center, Frontline Outreach Center, Pine Hills Neighborhood Center and the Conductive Education Center of Orlando. In addition to the Turkey Giveaway, the event included raffle giveaways and appearances by Orlando Magic alumni and ambassadors, Bo Outlaw and Nick Anderson.

Working with community partners, the team distributed 175 turkeys, 650 cans of vegetables, 175 packages of rolls, 175 boxes of instant potatoes, 175 boxes of stuffing, 175 pies and 650 drinks. Meeting these goals made it possible for families in the communities of Eatonville, Orlando, Parramore, Pine Hills, Winter Park and Washington Shores to have a wonderful Thanksgiving feast without the financial burden that often comes with the holiday.

Buddy’s would like to thank the Darrell Armstrong Foundation, the event organizers, and the community centers visited for allowing us to be a part of the event.
