Color can add life to a room. It can create tranquility, passion, or fun simple by being around. Sometimes when we put together a room we mistakenly think that painting the walls is the only way to get color into a room. Painting a whole room can turn the pop of color you wanted into an explosion.
At Buddy’s Home Furnishings, we think explosions maybe aren’t the best when it comes to interior design, so we’ve come up with 3 explosion-free ways to add color to a room.
1. Add a rug or carpet.
Flooring is a great way to add visual interest to a room. Find an area rug that adds spark and color to the room without making it feel cramped.
2. Paint the ceiling.
We know we referred to painting the walls as a possible explosion, but ceilings are different. Choose a vivid hue that will make your white walls look dramatic in comparison.
3. Go big and bold in just one spot.
Instead of spreading color evenly throughout the room, sometimes you can opt to go really big in just one place. For example, combine a mostly off-white/neutral room with an intense, floral print couch. If it were in a room competing for attention it would be distracting and noisy. But when it’s left alone to shine by itself, it can make a big impact.
Finding the right mixture of tones in a room can be a laborious science. It’s well worth the effort, though, when you create a space that generates just the right atmosphere. Try one or all three of these tricks to see what works for your home.
